AJ Villegas was born in Aurora, Colorado.  Like most people, after high school AJ was looking for his calling in life.  He entered the fast-paced restaurant business, and after years of climbing the ladder he was offered an executive chef position in Albuquerque, NM.  Little did he know that this was all part of God's plan.

He and his girlfriend Lisa moved from Denver to Albuquerque.  A year later AJ went back to Denver for a business trip.  Not wanting to be left alone in Albuquerque, Lisa went back to Colorado to visit her family in Fort Collins.  When her return flight to Albuquerque was delayed for four hours, she bought the book Mere Christianity in the airport bookstore.  After reading the book Lisa began to feel God tug on her heart, and she gave her life to the Lord right there in the airport terminal.

When AJ returned after the trip, Lisa told him of her newfound love for God and of His forgiveness though Christ.  After much persistence from Lisa, AJ went to church with her. As he heard the message "The Deadly Art of Procrastination," AJ felt God's conviction on his life, and he too surrendered his life to the Lord.

Since that day AJ's life has been forever changed. He never wanted to read the Bible, know about God, or be a pastor, but God began to change his desires. He enrolled in Trinity College and Seminary where he is currently studying Pastoral Ministry.  AJ left the restaurant business after over five years to take a job as mid-school youth pastor at Calvary Chapel Albuquerque.  He and Lisa married in June of '09.
